Writing Great Tweets Is Harder Than You'd Think

Great tweets are in some way similar to world-class comedy. On a surface level, they look simple – the words are short, the syntax is plain, and the observations are often mundane and obvious.

Yet, within the simplicity there's great talent (or skill) hidden in plain sight. It's not until you attempt to do stand-up or write a "banger" tweet yourself, that you notice how incredibly difficult it actually is.

This isn't true for other forms of art. Hearing a world-class pianist or even reading an iconic work of fiction, it's usually glaringly obvious how much talent and skill has gone into it, and hardly anyone would assume they might be able to do the same.

So in a way it might be a sign of postmodern art – similar to abstract paintings, DJ sets, or Bukwoski novels where the beauty is actually hidden under a plain (or at times ugly) facade, giving the impression of being in reach for anyone if they would just give it a go.
